Teaching Vocabulary

In this course, you will examine the importance of teaching and learning vocabulary in relation to the four main communication skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. You will learn ten principles that give a practical approach to teaching and learning vocabulary. We will discuss the best ways to test your students to find out what kind of vocabulary they need the most. By demonstrating how to both teach and monitor student learning, this course will show you how to create an effective vocabulary course.

This course includes a knowledgeable and caring instructor who will guide you through your lessons, facilitate discussions, and answer your questions.

Paul Nation is Professor of Applied Linguistics in the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
